Student Missions at Southern
For over 50 years Student Missions has been equipping students to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus, reaching people with the gospel around the world. Students spend four to twelve months learning to live beyond the borders of their faith. It is our deepest desire to see lives changing for the kingdom of Christ.
How Will my Gift be Used?
Each year Southern Adventist University sends out more than 60 full-time student missionaries. I have agreed to raise $5000 for Southern's Student Missions program. The funds raised will collectively help cover our airfare, visas, insurance training, and care packages. I am excited to serve as a student missionary! Will you help me reach my goal? Whatever you are able to give is greatly appreciated by the 2019-20 student missionaries, the people we will serve, and also myself.
COVID-19 Update
In the event that a trip needs to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, donations solicited for Student Missions will remain available for use until 2025.
Why I'm choosing to serve in Zambia
I believe God has called me to Zambia to gain experience with mission work, to serve others, and to develop new skills and improve existing ones. I also believe that through the good and the tough, I will experience positive character development in a way that is unique from normal ventures. In addition, I believe that this trip will broaden my perspective of world cultures. During my senior year in high school, my class took a mission trip to Ghana, Africa, and it was there that I more clearly saw the need to answer Jesus’ call – “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few”. It is my prayer that through this mission trip I will be a laborer sent forth for the harvest, to help hasten Christ’s coming and spread God’s love and the gospel to those I come in contact with.
Your support matters!
I will be going to Riverside Wellness Center in Zambia, Africa, which consists of a banana plantation, Bible school, medical and dental clinics, and more. At Riverside, I will be working on maintenance and construction projects, helping to build one-day churches throughout Zambia, as well as doing a part-time business internship. The internship will consist of doing a break-even analysis on the center’s industries, market evaluations on new projects, as well as helping with inventories, grant research, and proposal writing.
